In an Amherst College 2005 special açaí report, advocates for the açaí berry claim numerous health benefits from the consumption of this fruit,  including:

  • Improved mental focus
  • Strengthening of bones and muscles
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Better sleep
  • Slowing the aging process
  • Fighting cancer cells
  • Improved Digestion
  • Weight loss

Dr. Tim Holingshead of brazilbotanicals.com says that the key to obtaining the optimum nutritional value from the açaí berry is to digest the fruit in as fresh a state as possible. This fresh state is maintained by processing the berry within hours of being harvested:

  • Omega 3, 6 and 9

Still, we recommend an abundance of caution in the selection/purchase of some of the açaí products out there, some of which are being peddled aggressively through network and multi-level marketing.  A lot of these açaí products are not cheap and some are said to offer no where near what the marketers and their rosy self-serving testimonials claim their products can do for you.  And if you’re wondering what the big ad on the top of this entry is for, it’s just one of those touting the powers of açaí.
